SIMPLE STEPS TO ADD A POP OF 'EDGE' INTO YOUR WARDROBE

My style is purely down to how I'm feeling on the day. Some days I'll be waking up feeling fancy and throw on a pair of heels but more likely than not you'll find me in a pair of trainers and comfy jeans. If you flick through my Instagram feed, I don't really think you could pin point me down to one particular style. I take parts of what I like from every trend and try and manipulate them into my wardrobe. A 'style chameleon' if you will.

Talking to a friend the other day, she told me how she has a friend at work that feels she has been defined by her style and finds it hard to inject other trends she likes without people telling her it's 'not really her'. I was also told a trend she likes, but finds particularly difficult to work, are the 'edgier' styles. When it comes to working new trends, I feel the best way to start is to go for the basics so that you can work them into your wardrobe with ease. Here are my top tips to add that bit of edge into your wardrobe:

  1. Fre$h White Kicks

Don't underestimate the power of what fresh white trainers can do to an outfit. Dress down office looks and formal suits in no time by picking some perfectly edgy kicks. Here are some of my favourites at the mo:

2. Invest in Minimal Jewellery

Simple jewellery can really lift basic outfits. Keep your metals matching and stack up your earrings, necklaces and rings for best effect. ANNA + NINA and Fashionology do some great stacking jewellery.

3. Vintage Denim

I have spammed my love and slight obsessive need to have as many Levi's 501's in my life recently. Not only are they the comfiest jeans like evaaa, they are super versatile. Add an oversized jumper and trainers for a simple day time look or a silk shirt and heels for the night time. These babies are a new-found saviour to my wardrobe.

4. The Statement Jacket

Invest in a jacket that perhaps doesn't work for every day, but makes you feel like a bada$$ when you wear it. I'm normally for the minimal styles, so a recent Mongolian style jacket purchase was a bit of a risk for me but it added some versatility to my wardrobe. These jackets will do just that:

5. Statement Sunglasses

I always convince myself into buying new statement sunglasses. Just like with stacking jewellery, statement sunglasses instantly elevate any basic outfit. Here are some of my favourites:
