DUST, SLIDE AND GETTING SENTIMENTAL

ASOS WHITE DUSTER COAT// ASOS OVERSIZED T SHIRT// ZARA (DIY RIPPED) JEANS// H&M SLIDERS// FASHIONOLOGY NECKLACE & RINGS// VINTAGE BAG// EBAY CAT EYE SUNGLASSES

Look at me with the vague titles to outfit posts, it's very annoying and I will stop, but it just seemed appropriate for this occasion.

I was closely anticipating the arrival of my duster coat from ASOS. When it arrived, I tried it on and wouldn't take it off until I looked at it from every angle in the mirror. As I was explaining in previous posts, I was slightly worried it would look too clinical.

"but does it look TOO much like a doctors coat?"

I asked my Mum, which obviously was a mistake as she said "YES" and I was slightly disheartened. So I asked my sister for a second opinion and she also said yes. As I slowly made my way over to putting it back into the return bag, I stopped and thought I cannot make this decision on the whim of just opening it (as the coat itself is so beautiful).

Luckily, I wore it today and cannot comprehend why I ever dissed it. I mean, how could I ever call this coat an ugly word like 'CLINICAL'!? I eat my words completely.

Anyway, the point of this long (boring) drawn out story is that I tend to do this with a lot of things. I will stare at a piece of clothing or try it on so many times, that it becomes hideous (when I previously thought it was the best thing since sliced bread). I do this when I am drawing too. I will draw something I am really proud of but then I will pick holes at what I don't like so much about it and then end up ruining it by trying to cover up things that weren't even wrong in the first place.

I feel the more I seem to write the more it becomes obvious that I do this with relationships in my life too (but this is just TMI)..

I think walking away and thinking over things you are not so sure on helps in any situation (not just a small decision like whether you like a coat or not). The best decisions I have ever made are the ones I haven't made on a whim. Decision's where you say "yes" too quickly (like adding loads of clothes to your online shopping basket because it won't be in the sale forever) can leave you feeling a bit out of control (as I have experienced these last few months).

So time to put my words in to practise...

Final note: Duster coats + Sliders + SOHN's new album 'Tremors' = Summer combination heaven
